Dear potential clients: Thank you for considering us as you look for help during this challenging time in your life. What I hope transmits as you view this web-site is that we truly care about you, the clinical work that we do, our fellow team members, and the advancement of our profession’s best clinical and business practices. We are here to bring positive change in the world. We start with ourselves and then transmit this change, one person, one family at a time.
When I embarked on my journey to change from a solo practice to a group practice in 2015, my goal was to 1) meet my professional needs for partnership with a couple of colleagues (as solo practice is lonely) and 2) get help with the volume of clients looking for services from me. These goals have been met and much more. I have been blessed by these brilliant, kind, warm, empathetic souls who have chosen to share their professional journey with me through Elevate Counseling Services. They are in full agreement with me that we have “the best job on the planet and the best clients in the world.” I am confident you will be equally delighted by the professional, personable and therapeutic relationship that your counselor will form with you or your loved ones. Thank you again for considering us to meet your counseling needs.

Mike earned an M.S., in Marriage and Family Therapy from Eastern Nazarene College in 2006 and a B.A., in Philosophy & Religious Studies from Bridgewater State College in 2001.
Mike’s graduate studies were in marriage and family therapy and this has become a niche area for him professionally. Mike is comfortable working with couples or individuals whose hurt seems to be stemming from relationship conflict. He has worked with children and teens in various capacities for 28 years, and enjoys meeting with families as a group to help foster a sense of connection, loyalty to one another, and to help them to be as strong and healthy a family as possible. Mike finds joy in working with people 1:1 as well, who are struggling with depression, loss, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, or trauma related pain.
Although familiar with a range of psychotherapeutic schools of thought, Mike tends to utilize methods primarily from the Humanistic, Existential and Narrative as well as the various family systems models for couples and group work. Select techniques of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness and meditation methods are utilized as well to help manage stress, anxiety, and anger.
Mike has a personal interest in the Christian contemplative tradition and will help interested clients incorporate some of these practices into their faith-walk as they seek a keener sense of self, a greater sense of serenity, and a deeper connection with the divine.
With a passion for learning, reading, philosophy, ancient history, drumming and chasing God, Mike’s favorite quote is from Herman Hesse, who wrote, “I wanted only to try to live in accord with the promptings which came from my true self. Why was that so very difficult?”
—
Leigh-Ann’s perspective: Michael is such an asset to our team. He can work with virtually any client across the developmental and diagnostic spectrum. He is a great anchor and calming therapist and will settle the atmosphere in the room, able to calm a child (sometimes with drumming) and works well at building relationships within the family dyad.
